Need Euro model info
There is a 107 for sale not to far from me. It is listed on ebay as a 1989 euro model and from all appearances it is. Small bumpers, single headlights and speedo in kilometers. My question it is listed as a 560 and I thought that euro models were 500. Was there ever a 560 euro model? I realize that it could have been rebadged for some reason. I am planning to go look at the car probably Monday and just curious about the 560. If you haven't seen it yet take a look at it on ebay and let me know what you think.
Thanks in advance, |

560sl
the vin you sent is in the US format, also whan i ran it in my mercedes parts guide, it comes back to a US 560sl, also carfax gave a detailed report, i have sent you the carfax, the seller may believe it is euro.
if you are concidering this purchase be very cautious, verify all vin numbers etc, it could be a euro that someone swapped vins with, or a US someone converted to euro look. |

Thanks for all that info. You beyond all I could have asked for. It does now seem supicious. I know that the headlights and bumpers could be changed but really don't understand why someone would change the speedo. Anyway thanks again. |

560
another odd thing is the replacement vin shown in the auction, those are usually assigned to theft recovery cars, generally euro cars have the vin plate on the radiator support and on the firewall. i ran the vin here California Smog check history it only shows one test with that plate, and two tests for that vin number, odd for a car that old.

Carson356,
Good observation about the replacement vin number. I never even noticed that until you did. Seems strange to me also that the bidding on this car is only up to $11,000 as compared to others on ebay. If it is not sold today still may drop by and just ask a few questions just for curiousity. Car really looks good from pictures but I probably would be afraid of it. Thanks again for all your help and input. |

There were euro 560SL's, according to Fazination 107, a semi-official MB publication. It is missing the lower parking/signal lights. If that is a US car, somebody went to a lot of trouble to make it european.
Good looking, though, at least from the picture. If you find out more, tell us, please.
