Unhappy Dash removal 129

I need to get the dash out and I have everything pulled and ready to go. The problem is that there are 2 metal brackets on the dash section that hook behind the center console - not just the wood trim of the center console, but the very robust black plastic support structure that holds it all up. It looks like the only way to get the dash out is to first remove that big black structure. Does anyone have advice? Thanks!

I think it is best to remove the console as well. It is pretty easy once you get the center enclosure lid removed. Take a look at our website at www.mbca.org/northtexas, on the left you will see repair videos, click there and all the videos on how to do the job are there. Good luck.

I sent you an email did you get it? The best method is to remove the console, have you removed the wood trim on the center? If it is a pre 96 model you will have 2 bolts in the HVAC control slot that need to be removed, and 2 bolts and a screw under the cluster, don't forget the headlight switch and the bolts under the speaker covers.

Brian,
I like your web site and think it has some great info. I did not, however, have very much luck playing the video on dash removal. It only played long enough to get the instrument cluster, passenger air bag, emergency brake and headlight switch out of the way. Then it quit. What am I going wrong.

Opps My mistake

Mike,
I am sorry, I thought the full procedure was in there, I checked it out and there were 2 portions missing. I have updated them, you will see R129D1, D2, and D3 for dash removal. I hope this helps !

Just to let you know there appears to be a repeat of DashD1?

Also, big thanks for placing the vids on your site - have you got the whole collection BTW?

Thanks

Thanks for letting me know about that. I will fix it. I also have a bunch of other videos I will post, some nice marketing onces for the 129, and full soft top replacement procedure. I will post those as time permits, It takes a long time to upload them, those yesterday took an hour!
By the way, you have a beautiful car, kudos to you for taking such good care of it. The 129 will alway be an awesome automobile, and we are fortunate to have one.
Best Regards,
Brian
