Mine is '95 white/grey running board with light grey interior and black top. Car is pretty much bone stock, except I had the factory ash tray taken out and replaced it with factory cup holders. The next project that I would do is to replace my factory 16" wheels to something more aggressive. Would like to get something in the 18" or 19" with stack configuration and get better spring/shocks for it....once the stock market goes back up. Would like to post pictures, but not sure how.

98 black/black. Black softtop with panaramic roof. Stock wheels replaced with 18" AMG SL 2pc. 8.5 fronts, 10 rears (245/275). Tires are Pirelli PZero's. Spring/Shocks are stock - have been told it isn't worth it to replace.

Next project is to take out the MB radio and replace with Alpine Nav/DVD/Changer/TV. Would like a less visually noticeable piece in the slot, but Alpine is pretty much it for the features that I'd like.

Thinking of the AMG trim, but looks like the hassle/cost may not be worth it.

1964 230SL completely restored! The complete story with pictures will be posted on my own web site somewhere in the future.
1986 300SL silver gray with black leather; nothing special...

1990 300SL-24 silver gray with black leather.
I already bought model "97 bumpers and front fender panels, model "97 taillights and clear corners. The car is set on 235/45-17" SLK 7-spoke wheels during the summertime and the original 16" wheels during the winter.
I want to upgrade the interior as well (in 1,5-2 years) with the newer digital climate display and steering wheel...

...lots to do...lack of time...

edf: softtop with panoramic roof??

greetingz,

Mbenz, have a a black softtop (standard softop), and also have the panoramic roof (the glass one). Sorry, didn't mean to confuse the situation by saying I have a soft panoramic roof :-). . .

OK...Mine is Smoke Silver with a dark brown soft top. Interior is Oyster with heated seats, C/D player/changer. I also have a Burl Walnut shift knob. The car came with a Noah cover and a cockpit cover for when the top is down!!! I am thinking about sheepskins, especially for the summer. I also would like to add a Nav system, but am not sure what would work? Any Ideas?? These cars are GREAT!!

Hi Eddie! I saw on another post that you deal with Nick Munz from Mercedes of Annapolis. My wife and I visit their every trip to Annapolis, which is about 6 times/year, and always walk to the dealership. I stop in and chat, find out the pulse of the Annapolis SL population, and go on my way. Is Nick the tall older gentleman? If so, then I have spoken to him several times and he was quite accomadating to me. Nice person and a nice dealership. When downtown, I usually see a black 500 SL and a smoke silver 320? Perhaps I've seen you and never realized it? Do you work downtown Annapolis? We want to retire in Annapolis, I probably will set up a small practice and enjoy.....however, that is down the road apiece. If we had Mercedes Shop badges/decals we could identify each other!!

Last August I bought a 230SL built in Oct. 1966. It's a Euro model originally delivered in Italy. It's Arabian Grey, Natural (tan) leather, black soft top, grey-white hard top, and grey-white hub caps. Mileage (kilometerage?) is unknown because I have no documentation from it's life in Italy. It's a daily driver that needs a lot of worn out parts replaced.

Hi Rodd and welcome to the site!! I am glad to see you post your SL. I am interested however, how easy the car is to repair as it was originally a european model.....Also, what differences are you aware of from the US model if any?? Enjoy the site and hope you visit often!!

Mine is a grey 1979 450SL with 99K miles. The interior is red. Really a lot of fun to drive and I'm expecting the engine to go for a looooong time!!

Dale,
Sorry about the late reply. Been out of the country on business. The tall gentleman you talked with is Nick's boss. Nick is a younger guy and not very tall. I do not work exactly downtown historic Annapolis, but a few blocks from the State Capital building. The people at the dealer are a very good bunch to work with, and I have recommended plenty of people to go there for work done. Their price is rather reasonable and always do a good job for me. If you happen to be in town again, let me know and I (and my SL) will meet up with you.

Sounds like a great idea....I plan to eventually retire to Annapolis, my wife and I really like it there and have spent MUCH time in the area. We usually stay at Gibsons Inn, at 110 Prince George St., right next to the Naval Academy..I think that I could give the Academy tour, I've been on it THAT many times. I would like to open a part time practice or teach at a nearby college...who knows...but I will definatly take you up on the offer.
Thanks

Hey folks, I've been away from this forum a while and lo and behold, you've started this SL forum! Good Job! Mine is a '98 SL 500 sport, Imperial Red, Parchment, Black Top, Xenons, CD changer. It's a great car except for one thing. The soft top has some mild airleaks that show up at 70+ mph. I've been to the dealer several times and they just can't seem to get rid of the leaks. Any suggestions?

I really love the Imperial Red SL's. As a matter of fact, one slipped through my hands when I was looking. Mine is Smoke Silver, and I also really like this color......it's great for not showing every little speck of road dust!!!! Welcome to the site .....Hope to have you visit often..

mbdude,
Where is the air leak at? I assume that its on the front. You may want to check the alignment of the locking mechanism first. Have you also checked the seal that run along the windshield? IMHO airleak is the hardest to pinpoint and fix, since there is no visible trace like water leak.
