Does that apply to Euro cars as well, will the USA dealer honor the warranty?

old car warranty

Hi All,

I always call the headquarters ot the marque that I buy no matter how old it is. I then ask them to put my vin # with my name in their registrations and I then ask if there are any open issues that were'nt done to the car.

You should call MB and ask them. Usually they do not.
1-800-367-6372 is their #

Sub Frame Recall

xkeots,
I am a new member to this forum as of today.
I read your post about the sub frame. Does this recall also apply to my 79 450SLC?
Thank you,
Kurt

Can you tell by looking?

Hello all,
I'm new to this discussion - is there any way to tell by looking at the sub-frame if this modification has been performed? I had my '79 up on the rack yesterday and looked the subframe over carefully, didn't know what I was looking for though. I did notice a number stamped on the subframe assembly- didn't think to write it down.
Thanks,

Sub frame mod recall

Hi All,

If you call Mercedes in New jersey @ 800-367-6372 and ask for customer assistance and tell them your VIN # they can tell from that if it was ever done.

Thanks, I called them...

and they said that there are no outstanding issues on my car. They also said that on the 14 digit VIN numbers you have to add "WDB" to the front of the number. They also registered me as the current owner.

Richard,

I brought my 450SL into MeBe and they are putting in a totally new subframe free under the warantee recall. I had them go over the car and set the lambda and put in synthetic oil (I never used it). I should be getting it back on Friday. The service mgr couldn't believe how tight and how nice the motor ran the the car drove. He said "I can't believe that this car is 26 years old". I am having an estimate done for body work. This car sat in a garage under everything (lawn chairs etc) and it has the dings and scratches to show for it. But it only has 64,000 mi on it. Paint can be reshot but low miles cannot be. I always liked the black/palamino combo.
