That fuse is in its own fuse box, around the brake booster.

And I am fairly sure the Unwired Tools servo kit wont fit.

For what it's worth, I found that you can remove the wiper as an assembly fairly easily. My manual said to disasemble the wiper unit, don"t do it. After removal of the wiper the rest of the blower replacement is straight forword. Hope this saves someone time and effort.

129 Blower

Thanks for the reply, I did remove the wiper as a complete assembly. I got the motor and regulator out yesterday. I bypassed the regulator by running a direct ground to the blue wire and the motor seems to be fine runs fine at high speed with minimal noise. I found a used regulator for $150 at a local salvage yard. I plan to check with some local electrical shops to see if I can have the bearing and brushes replaced in the motor just to be on the safe side. Unfortunately taking loose the very last clip that holds the motor in place the little plastic portion broke . So I have to see if I can find the lower portion of the housing or modify a different method of clamping the motor in place. Thanks for all the advise it has given me a new experience, knowledge and saved me some money for sure.

How long should they last? With no moving parts, it seems as though it should last the life of the car, but they found a way to make them fail. Is there anyway to repair the module?
The module can fail when the blower motor draws too many amps because it(blower motor) is failing due to bad bearings or other causes.

On our sl600 the blower was making noise grinding on the housing. The strap was broken that holds the motor down. I drilled the strap and the forward housing and put a small bolt to secure it. It fixed the problem. The bad news was when I got it all backed together, I noticed the windshield was cracked from the center (just above the wiper pivot) and about six inches up.

In forty years of wrenching on motorized vehicles and thirty on MB's this is a first,,,, trashing a windsheild. So Be CAREFUL, I couldn't even tell you how it happened, just that it did.

Talking R 129 Blower Motor

Well at long last I have got mine working as it should, I think !!
Managed to get hold of a replacement control panel, regulator and the air vent/flap that fits behind the centre air vents all from one breakers yard.
Got it all fitted and it seems to work O.K.
One question if any one can help - When the defrost/screen vent button is pushed should the display read HIGH ? I seem to remember in a R 129 I tried berfore mine this was what happened.
Also managed to pick up an AMG rear box, looks good and a bit more response.

On defrost/windscreen, the display reads "HI".

What is the AMG backbox like?

Thought I remembered correctly, so I still have a bit of a problem.
But all the bits I bought including two cats with the exhaust box was the same as MB wanted for the control panel alone !
A M G rear box is dissapointingly quiet, perhaps even quieter than the standard,
although it seems to be more responsive.
Has anyone tried it with the silencer/muffler behind the back box removed ?
Or would this upset the backpressure?

Can any of you that replaced or took out your blower motors let me know roughly how long it took?

Also is there a video anywhere that shows how to do it, I have seen videos for other work here on the forum

Just pulled everything apart this weekend. The blower had jambed because the piece of the bottom cabinet that the clip attach's to had broken off. Used a screw to set the clamp and replaced everything after cleaning. It spooled right up and works better than it ever has. Saved a bundle, Thanx short turtle for your thread , it is where I got the idea to screw the clamp strap back on

Same problem same repair and a strange part?

Like RSWoodly I started out with something rubbing the squirrel cage fan. After disassemble I discover pieces of bark had somehow gotten past the cabin filter. The timing was most fortuitous as I discover the hold down clip had the infamous broken tab. This has to be the weakest link of any 129

I also had a strange part (see pic) in the bay outboard the passenger fan. It just could not have fallen in and I have no idea where it goes. The P/N 129 831 00 27. Anyone have a P/L up and running and could shed light on this part would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to board members for saving me $$.

Looks like a clip for the screen

It looks like one of the clips that holds in the screens below the wipers
