17 inch rims, speedo regear or electronic recalibration?

Putting AMG 17"'s on my car, the speedo will read slow. How shall I calibrate it, is it done by removing the entire gauge assembly, or a gear change? Would like DIY if possible.

Thanks!

most folks when upgrading wheel diameter use tires that have the same outside diameter. thus keeping the speedo accurate.

Not to mention problems with tire to fender well contact if you go with larger diameter tires.
