Psychotic drivers window
First, a newly acquired 1991 300SL. The shop manual DVD is on order, but has not arrived. My drivers window on occasion will go down with the interior switch, but not back up. It operates fine with the door key, and will go back up after I switch off and reinsert the ignition key. I assume that there is a bad relay somewhere, since the interior switch functions upon after I turn the key off and on. Any suggestions? (I assume that this is unrelated to the continuing quiet rythmic ticking of the vacuum switch thingy above the passengers knees)

The windows operate in conjunction with the soft top controller. There are a pair of relays on the controller, one for each window. There are a pair of fuses in the trunk, one for each window. The usual culprit for what you describe is the actual window switch in the console, but not always. If the windows goes up and down when you operate the soft top, then the relays and fuses are OK. Do a SL forum search on windows and soft top controller, as there is a lot of information on this subject posted.
