Guessing the cause of the CE light is like trying to predict the final score of the Super Bowl. If you take your car to Autozone, they will connect an OBDII scanner to your car and tell you precisely why the light is on. And they will do it for no charge.
I would bet against the temperature sensor being the cause for the light. |

It's the "Economy" light, not the check engine light. Don't think that will throw a code. Likely culprit is the temp sensor. On my sedan it is located on the driver's side up against the center console near the top. WIth a new one in hand, you'll likely be able to identify it. Do a search under my name for the problem and fix for mine. Might be similar to yours.

This guy had the engine check engine light on last week, and I falsely assumed he had made a typo...
The evaporator temperature sensor is to the right of the steering column on a LHD car (picture). I didn't read Len's thread and how his problem was diagnosed, but there might be a stored code for this in the climate controller. If you go to www.continentalimports.com, you will find an article explaining how to read codes and view actual values of inputs and outputs for your system. Dont rule out that the refrigerant may be low, this can also cause the ec light to come on and be unable to turn it off by pressing the button.
It is a safety feature for the A/C compressor so that if the system has no refrigerant or oil the compressor will be disengaged. |
