560SL and California emissions
I'm looking at an '88 560SL that was a CA delivered car. Passed CA emissions up until it left the state a few years ago. Is there any difference in the emissions system on the CA delivered cars than the ones the rest of the US got? I'm thinking not, but want to double check that.

The difference is ODB...should have a diagnostic connector & LED to blink out codes.

So only the CA versions have OBD. That's interesting. I assume that means OBD I. Is it the same as the OBD I in the later Mercedes? When did that all start across the entire model line? Have to do some searching for the codes and the code reader for that system. I've never had a car that needed one before. If anyone has a link to a good discussion of that system, please share it.
Thanks. Len |

According to the shop manual, it's pretty crude, but better than nothing...you short a few pins and count blinks.
