This one has an incorrect 73-76 manual transmission speedo. Hence actual mileage is trivial.

Well you probably don't want my opinion but I'll speak my mind anyways. I'm fearless !!
" Thers just something ugly about the car. I can't quite place it. I would like to rob the headlights, and a few other items, and oust the rest of the car for parts " What size V8 is that? how many h.p.? would I be able to put the whole drivetrain into my ' 79 300CD very easily ? Looks like all I would need to do is change my mounts and re config. a nice Dual exhaust for the thing. Can I get 325/350 horse out of that engine ? For $1650.oo it's worth it as a nice parts car...am I be dillusional ? Who am I ? Where am I ? Who's this sleeping next to me ? |

This one is also on the Vintage forum also. Sort of a quasi-repost.
It's real cheap, but looks to have a WHOLE lot of visible rust, so what you cant see must be even worse. It's had over 25 years to get rusty, too. It's for sale in Illinois, so depending on how long it has lived there, it could be repairable or a basket case because of the rust.... Also, it has been at that used car dealer a long time, so they are lookinhg to get rid of it. It's not a popular body style, evidently a euro gray import car, so the mileage can't be verified, as it may have been recoreded since the MPH sppedometer/odometer was put in, so there are reasons the price is low. This car could be broken for parts, but this is NOT the W123 chassis, so the drivetrain/engine might not easily bolt in. I am not sure about that at all. Nick if you are reading this, just be careful, it might NOT be a plug and play, and could be moretrouble than itis worth. The 450SLC engine was NEVER offered in the W123 coupes like yours, so while it MIGHT fit, you need to find out whether it would. I have never heard of one that was transplanted into a car like yours.

sorry for the dual posts, i should probably have just stuck to a particular group. but since i no nothing about the SL's i thought it might be something good. anyways on another note.
why would u want to take the diesel out of the 300CD? get like a 240D or 300D to do that with, the CD is just to rare..... at least thats my opinion
