I have a 1976 280SL.I am trying to find specs on the engine. It has electronic fuel injection, and I am not sure if this is the original fuel injection or not> it is a European model and the EMC no. is 0 280 001 015. This car was not running when I bought it, with the timing chain out and two bent valves. I have the engine running but need information, specs, valve lash, ignition timing, fuel pressure, ect. Boyd.

IF the car has electronic injection then it's not a 1976 as all of the 1976 & later cars used CIS injection. HOWEVER most of the specs for the engine are the same as US version engines. IE; valve clearance is .004" intake & .008"-.010" exhaust with cold engine. The fuel pressure is 28.5-30 psi. The timing is set as TOTAL timing at 3000 rpm & should be 30-32 deg w/o vacuum!! Have fun
