129 Top Removal Without Electrical System

Since I currently have no electrical system in my SL600. Does anyone know how to take the top off the car by jumping wires ect.

You will have to do it manually with the wrench in your tool kit.

There are no instructions to do this manually in my owners manual. Can you explain. There are instructions for putting the soft top up and down manually but nothing about the hard top.

top removal

The hard top and the soft top use the same locks, the allen wrench for the front and the slender I believe 13mm on the rear locks.there is a cover plug behind the sun visors on each side of the front channel remove the plastic plug and insert the allen wrench in and turn, you will hear and feel them unlock, the rear locks are by the hinges on the rear trunk lid, shine a lite and look real closely, there isn't much room, that is the reason the wrench has to be thin. I am assuming that you have the tool kit that came with the car, the wrench has both the allen wrench in one end and the open end on the other. Nothing to it.

Thanks for the info. So I can essentially use the soft top proceedure in the manual. I will have to see if I have the original tool kit, otherwize I will figure something out.

Thanks
