Will this affect the value of my 450SL?
If I add jump seats in my 1973 MB 450 SL, do I screw up my restoration value? Were jump seats after market or were they an option in 1973?

My '74 had them, from the factory I believe.
Meanwhile, I don't think you need worry about affecting the restoration value of your car. It's not a museum piece. The 107s are merely old cars and will likely stay just that because of the huge number built. Enjoy it as you like it. |

I have no reason to believe that they were not an option in 1973. They were also available aftermarket.
If you had a really, really, fine primo-priced SL, you might get dinged by a very knowlegeable and picky buyer if you had aftermarket seats, or for even for adding factory seats. Otherwise, almost no one cares.

You might want to keep the carpet covered cover board that is now where the jump seats will go -- the operation is pretty reversible with little damage being done by attaching the seats.

Thanks for all your replies. My little guy wanted to go on rides with my wife and I but of course there is only 2 seats. I was concerned that if I added the jumps seats, it would decrease the value. Now I will add the jump seats and remove them if needed.

Good Choice!! My 73-450SL has the seat and I believe it came with the car.
