Help - 1994 sl320 129 chasis passenger window stuck or motor bad

Help - w129? I have a 94sl320 which is the 129 chasis. My passenger window is stuck or the motor is out. Im taking the panel off and I have the big screw at the door handle off, the panel released all the way around but the center, near the door handle/release is still tight. I didnt remove the door relase handle. I just found out a very small very odd looking screw holding the door latch to the door panel. Its not a screw or a bolt thought on the bottom side I can see threads. Actually ill go take pics. brb

Ok The first two pics are just that the door panel is free all the way around except the center.

The next three pics are the odd bolt which I believe may be the final bolt between me and success. This bolt appears to be attaching the door handle to the door. Notice the wood paneling around it which I dont want to destroy.

anyone? Thanks.

Now my driver side motor has gone out!! so if anyone has experience removing the door panel on the 90's SL it would really help.

thanks.

Have you check the window fuses in the trunk? There is one fuse for each seperate window.

To remove door panel 1991 300SL.

1. Carefully remove the door lock knob by pulling outward ( parallel ) to release.
2. Using extreme care, remove the wood trim behind the door release handle by lifting outward with a panel removal tool.
3. Extract the single screw securing the metal trim behind the door release handle.
4. Remove the single 10mm bolt securing the door latch assembly to the door.
5. Carefully remove the seat control assembly and wood trim on the door panel using a panel removal tool and prying outward on the outside edge.
6. Remove 1 screw from inside the door pocket on the outside edge of the door in the pocket hinge assembly.
7. Remove the single very small screw from inside the pocket on the inside edge of the pocket securing a piece of plastic molding. Remove the molding and extract 1 large screw securing the door pull handle and panel to the door.
8. Extract 1 screw securing the black trim piece around the door latch. Lift up from the bottom to remove.
9. Extract 3 small screws securing the chrome trim on the top of the outside edge of the door panel and remove trim.
10. Remove the courtesy lamp assembly at the bottom of the door panel by snapping it out with a panel removal tool.
11. Using a panel removal tool, carefully release the “pop” fasteners from around the perimeter of the door panel. Lift up on the door panel to release the metal clips from the top edge of the door panel.
12. Slide off the vacuum hoses from the connectors near the panel bottom.
13. You are now holding the free door panel.

Reverse steps for installation.

RE: Post #2
The locking door pockets are actuated by the vacuum hoses referenced in step 12 posted by Tecqboy. They are troublesome, but lock the pockets when you lock the car. The idea is that you can lock the car with the top down and the pockets will be locked.

Well I dont know about you but skipping the whole taking both doors apart, spending an afternoon or two, possibly breaking a apart in the interim and spending 300$ for two motors seems like the easy way out.

I mean changing two fuses is the easy way out. The easy way out. yea thats right.

after 20 years of working on cars you would think I would have gone that route first.....

BOTH fuses were out. $2.50 at auto zone.....

Cant say it enough. Thanks!

But your post was not wasted b/c my passenger door window is getting stuck so I have a track or gear tooth problem. So I still have to take that door apart but it SURE AS HELL IS BETTER THAN two motors.

Thanks again dude. Cheers to you.

Search the SL section - someone here posted a great pictorial on how to get the door apart. That's how I learned.
