Need washer reservoir cap
2000 SL600. I popped the hood tonight in order to add washer fluid and discovered that the washer reservoir cap had pretty much disintegrated. Odd that the remains were even sitting in place on top of the reservoir as the sides of the cap were completely separated from the top of the cap. It was just sitting there in pieces (the cap).
Anyway I've found several parts shops online and I find various washer related parts but no washer reservoir cap. I find washer reservoirs, but not certain if they come with the cap. Any advice here? What is the word on getting parts for these babies? Can *ALL* parts be found via 3rd party parts houses or no? Are some items dealer only parts? Also I've been noticing that the insulation/padding attached to the hood is getting old and coming apart and coming off. What do people do with that? Can the specific part be bought? Thanks Mike |

Ok well I only needed to look at one more online parts store to find both parts. Found 'em both at ***************. The picture of the cap does not look exactly like the original but I'm willing to give it a try. Anything is better than taking it to the dealer here in Austin, Tx. My experience with this dealer has always been very negative. Anyone else in Austin?

I have sometimes found that while the dealer/service people at the dealerships are terrible to deal with the guys at the parts department are completely different. You might give that a try. There are some discounts for members of the certain groups (MB club etc.) at some dealership parts departments. Otherwise, email the sponsor of this site (Fastlane -- click on the "buy parts" tab at the top of this page and get Phil's telephone number), he will get you what you need.
