Try Crutchfield.com. Here's what they have available in a 3 1/2 in size.

I took mine out and went to a Circuit City to get a match. They were very helpful. I am sure any audio store would be able to do the same. Good luck

On recommendation of member SCLJA, I found and installed a pair of 4" Eclipse 2-ways. This thread has a picture of one installed Replacement speakers For 380SL - Where?
The ones I found were off EBay, older versions, #8243. I think there are upgraded versions of this speaker that you can buy new.
BTW, you'll get better responses in the audio forum.

I installed Sony Xplod 4" speakers. Fitted perfectly without any mods needed. There are pictures in this thread as well as ones of the Focal speakers:

I don't know how you guys managed to squeeze 4 inchers into that space, because I tried unsuccessfully to get 4" Eclipses into my 81 380sl several years ago. Ended up with 3 1/2 inch Boston Acoustics in the front, 2 ADS's in the rear side panels, 2 12" subwoofers in the rear shelf, and a high powered Lightening Audio amp mounted vertically on the panel between the trunk and the cabin. Sounds great even at high speeds with the top down.

You need to trim some metal off the edge of the basket. IIRC, about 1/8" on 3 sides. How did you fit speakers into the rear side panels of your SL? Any pictures?

I had no trouble installing the 4" Sony speakers on my 350SL. They fitted exactly in same place and using same holes that originals used. I originally bought a 3-1/2" pair of another make based om what I had read on-line - maybe Pioneers. They were too small and would not be easy to mount.

I don't think the Sony's are any better than originals, but my originals were shot!

I used a hole saw to drill holes for the ADS speakers in the rear side panels, and holes for the low profile subwoofers in the rear shelf. The speaker on the left side is under the handle that tightens the soft-top. I then ran wires from the radio to the amp in my trunk, and wires from the amp back to the speakers. Looks and sounds great, imho!

I went to Crutchfield.com and bought the HELIX Esprit E4X 4" 2-Way Coaxial Speakers for my 86 560SL. The fit was perfect.
