Driver Side Carpet

Hi I am looking for someone that has a driver side carpet for 1981 380SL. The door panels are Palomino but the carpet looks lighter, maybe Cream?. I need the the one with the padded underside. I purchased the car and this is missing, do not want to go for the cost of buying an all new set as I have to put money into getting it running first LOL. Please let me know or if you know a place I can get one. I guess I can dye it to match if I have to, thank you John

Are you sure that the carpet isn't faded palomino, which now resembles cream? If so, SEM makes a palomino paint you can spray on to bring the original color back.

A new one with padded underside from MB is about $700. Find yourself a used one from any of the suppliers on E-bay that have a fresh road kill. You can buy the carpet after market anywhere but you cant get the 1" thick padding. Make sure when you buy a used carpet that it does come with this padding.

The driver's side padding is often in a mess after 30 some years! Probably thrown out with the carpet.

You can make one by buying a few yards of foam carpet backing from a carpet store. Cut out some curved pieces to match the indent in the floor foam and then laminate a full size piece cut just smaller than the carpet. Depending on how stiff the foam is, you may need to cut it to allow it to hinge upwards at the pedal.

It probably is palomino and is faded. Unfortunately I do not have the driver side carpet piece to dye it. Thats what I am looking for. Someone said I should check Ebay for the piece .thanks
