107 Hardtop adjustment question.

I have a rattle at the hard top locking pins just behind the seats. They rattle constantly as I drive. I have replaced the weather seal along the bottom of the top and I have not tested it to see if it made a difference. I doubt it did because the old seal was in almost the same condition as the new one. The only difference I could see was at the ends of the seal there was some permanent compression. My question is how are the locking pins at this location to be adjusted. I know how to access them for adjustment. I just don't know which way to turn them. In one case I can adjust them to pull the top down closer to the car compressing the seal. Or I can go the other way by raising them and let the rear pin pull the top down on the side pins to make a tighter fit.

If I pull the top down closer to the body I am relying on the compression of the seal to keep the pin from rattling. In the other case the force of the center pin is pulling the top down against the side pin which would provide more force and prevent the rattle. Also it will not compress the seal as much.

Which way is it? Anybody know?

Does anybody have a copy of the service manual procedure that you could provide?

Thanks.

Dave
