SL restoration. Suspension issue
hi
i am currently restoring my 107 SL. i hope to have the car ready in about a month's time now. i've been running a blog following progress here: http://r107restoration.blogspot.com/ a more urgent issue has cropped up though. I have excessive play (clonking as i physically wobble the wheel) at the mount at the top of the upper transverse control arm. i need to replace this. repair kit A1153301775 (item 95) in pic below. does anyone know of a guide on how to do this? does the spring need to be removed 1st or can i do it when in situ? its the 1st time i've worked on suspension, but pretty handy at most things. pic below highlighted in red shows what i need to replace... thanks in advance!

My experience with independent suspensions is that it you would need to remove the spring to do this.

use the PROPER TOOL for spring removal, if it gets away , it will kill you if you are in its path!

No need to remove the spring. But make sure the car is stable and the lower control arm is supported as far outward as possible.
