Anyone with a D-Jet SL?

I would be grateful if you could put up some pictures of the fuel lines so that I can see how they are routed. In looking at the 350SL, it appears that the fuel goes directly from the pump to the fuel rail and the regulators are on the return. I know that's not right!

I can take some in the morning but thats how they go. fuel pump to rail, rail to pressure regulator to pulse damper to return to tank.

That's the way it is. I think I answered same question yesterday on Benzworld - Must have been from new owner of the 350SL?

If you have the shop manual, it shows diagrams for various models in section 7.5, I think. Found a picture - You can see the pressure regulator at the back of the engine and the damper just above it. Feed from pump comes in on driver's side front.

You can thank the POS Haynes manual for that. Don't get me started.

I see yours is a 3.5 and mine is a 4.5. My line from the pump goes into the left fuel rail at the back.

Actually that's not my engine - just a picture I have on my HD. I also have a 4.5L (1972). Fuel feed comes up front of engine into a separate tee piece in the fuel rail.

Here is a pic.

Very strange. My '72 parts car is number 2913 and it has the inlet at the rear of the rail just like my '73.

very strange both my 73 350 euro and the 74 450 us have the same feed system - both from the rear into the rail (at left rear), damper , pressure reg and return to tank (also left rear). I have never seen one fed from the front before

According to the M117 shop manual, all feed into the front of the rail.

Version 1 is like mine - The feed line comes up the front of the engine and tees into the rail as shown in my picture

Version 2 & 3 - The fuel feed comes up the left rear of the engine, but then a tube runs parallel with rail and tees into the left front of the rail.

This only makes sense - the feed splits with 1/2 going down one side and the other 1.2 down the other side then joining back together at the regulator. If it wasn't like this, some injectors could get lower inlet pressure than others.

Section 7.4-221 of the engine manual shows the different rail configurations.

Cheers

Graham
