Where can I get Non-resistor spark plug wires for 82 380SL?

Too many rotor buttons purchased and a miss that won't go away. Resistor plugs+resistor wires= lotsa arcing in my distributor cap!

I'm guessing that FastLane (click "Buy Parts" at top of this page) would have them. Good pricing, great service and it helps support this forum.

Why not simply install non-resistor plugs? NGK BP6ES plugs will do a fine job and they are non-resistor. If your engine needs a hotter plug, get the BP5ES.

The "trick" is that the wire set has resistors in the metal connectors. You can have resistance wires OR resistance plugs, but not both. There are reports of people getting non-resistance wire sets and going with resistance plugs.

Supposedly, the factory in India was shut down a while ago, and the only people making non-resistor plugs is now NGK.

Yeah, you can't get Bosch plugs that are non resistor any more. I have a few left but will have to switch to NGK this year.
The books usually state W7DC for most of the older cars but found that they were too cold for just about every aplication. I switched to W9DC and they worked much better. Based on that I would get the BP5ES.

A rough idle or miss that can't be traced is often bad plug wires. Some new sets will have a carbon coil wire. Chuck that in the garbage. You want solid wire all the way with 1K ohm spark plug terminals.
Most rotors have 5K ohms, the connectors at the distrbutor cap have 1K as do the coil wire ends and spark plug ends. That's at least 10K before any voltage hits the spark plug. On older points coil systems with 16KV ( black ) coils that doesn't leave much to work with.
On those older engines I try and remove all resistors in the system except the spark plug terminals.

Non resistor plugs are worth it.

Denso has some that fit, and Bosch does too with a modification (remove the washers).

Would you be terribly offended if I were to download those photos and attach them to a few posts in these forums? I will give proper attribution of their source. I've written a few posts about the difference between resistor and non-resistor plugs, and a photo or two would be quite illustrative. (sorry, couldn't resist the pun) {ouch-did it again -unintentionally the second time, though}

I use MAGNACORE wires in my 85 280SL Euro and am very happy with them. They are custom made in the States for any MB model and age.
You can find them at alamomotorsprots.com or can call them at 1-800-880-0960. Reasonable price and fast delivery. I went with them after trying some NKG and another brand, had trouble matching the wires to the 110 engine but the MAGNACORE wires fit perfectly and perform well, even in our 110 degrees plus Arizona temperatures..Desert

Sorry but I know someone who had a bad experience with new Magnacore wires on his M110 that caused him to spend countless hours and hundreds of dollars. Replaced them with an old set of originals as a last resort. Problem solved.

Guess that can happen. I replaced my 25 year old wires with the MAGNACORE and the car runs very well and no AM radio static noise even in the garage. I wanted OEM wires but MB said they were no longer avalable. My local shop ordered three different sets of wires and all had fit problems and were sent back so after a lot of research I found MAGNACORE on the internet with good reviews, ordered them and have been very pleased with them. What could new wires do that would cost countless hours and hundreds of dollars? Just curious .....Desert

Checking other systems when you think the wires are fine. Paying to have the Fuel Pressure checked, compression test etc. Replacing ICM. You get the drift.
