Removal of door handle '97 SL500??

Hey guys, I could use some help with this. I am trying to remove the door handle. I look inside from behind the door and there are two screws that thread into the handle from (it appears outside) BUT I can not understand how they attach from the outside because they aren't visible. Something must need to be "popped-off" the handle on the exterior to gain access to these screws that must hold the handle in place. Nothing looks like it could be lifted off with a small screw driver. Anyone have any ideas??
