1981 380slc couple parts to id, help?

1. throttle switch? if bad will it cause high idle? , cutting and crimping it for now, ok? need one anyway so want to know if those wires are grounding it out causing high idle.

2. the icu 8 pin unit but at the harness has 7 wires, i am testing (2 and 8 on unit and theres no 8 (empty).

3. o2 sensor located on this 380slc -- no cat/no signs of wires ever there. not on either the engines banks either. underside a one pipe (newish)is there no cat. just put a rear muffler on new.

A couple of things can cause high idle speed.

Sticking throttle linkage. Make sure it's moving freely.

Idle spped is controlled by the indle amp. It it's bad ( and they often are, idle speed will go up )

Over voltage protection relay. There's a fuse inside of it. If the fuse blows you have to get a new relay - it's red in colour.

Idle speed actuator. It can jam up and stick open.

Hi

Re the CAT!

These cars were designed without cat's ( or O2 sensors for that matter) and none of the Euro models had them (including the facelift post '86 models like mine) . It was only a US requirement so perhaps someone has done a "restoration to EU spec" on yours?

cheers

Jim

thanks wire harness having 7 pins soo they made a 7 and 8? and go with whats in the car for harness (7) and the unit just doesnt use 8?. how would i know if im to have 7 harness or if someone has rewired?. *i got to thinking that the 8 pins wire in harness may have been spliced and a alarm wire to a switch or to ign installed, that wouldnt be, correct? (because theres a toggle switch (kill switch, tried it it works) at left of steering wheel hanging in mid air, had to install it to something hope bat/ign only?).

throttle,ov relay, icv, thermo, cold start, f inj valve, related.... is all good. referencing the high idle, more vac leak tests (specific blow motor working bench but not installed, though heat unit all buttons turning on/switching just no blow pushing through, seems heater core will be ok, then again something had to blow fuse, melt the blower (pine needles, acorns lol). 1 degrees winter-will wire direct switch for heat temporarily.
