I am learning this SL is a gas guzzler!
My daily driver is a 190d. Two opposite ends of the fuel consumption spectrum!

If I ever get the timing chain finished and fix all the collateral damage I caused in doing it, I hope to get 20+ mpg on the newly acquired '85 380SL. This is to replace wife's '83 300D. With the diesel fuel price premium over regular I am hoping to get pretty close to par on fuel cost. You aren't going to , coming from a 190D...

Yes, they still had not figured out how to wring more miles out of a gallon of gass in 1987! I have an '87 SEC and 2006 CLS. It's amazing how much power the CLS has from 5 liters compared to the SEC's 5.6 liters on top of the improved mileage.
