84 380SL Climate Control Vacuum
I have been working on the climate control system on my 84 380SL. The diagrams on the list have been wonderful. I have 2 questions:
1. Can anyone give me the color of the vacuum lines going to the center vent (#40) and the color of the 2 vacuum lines going to the defroster acuator (#38). I need both the side input & the bottom input of the defroster acuator. 2. I pulled the vacuum lines off of the defroster acuator last night. Using my vacuum pump, it held vacuum on both the side & bottom (and I could tell the lever worked), BUT the defroster vents did not close next to the windshield. I still had alot of air going to the windshield. I am assuming it should have closed completely? If so, why didn't the lever close the flaps? Thanks for any information. Richard |

I have found that the foam around the flap itself gets to a point where it does not close well enough to prevent air flow. The other issue is that the car must provide the vacuum to keep the flaps closed , if there is a leak elsewhere there may not be enough vacuum to keep them closed completely. Mitty vac at the pod itself may do the trick but the car system may not

FYI for anyone working on the two-stage def pod in an ACIII system... Vacuum has to be applied to both ports of the pod to close the vents fully.
