Never tried to change it in the car. I later edited the picture again. It is actually called the control pressure lever, not "Shift".

The rod on my car had got bent when shop dropped transmission for front end seal. I had to bend it until I could get adjustment to work. But I think you just follow instructions in manual. It's just the pushing back part that is not clear. You do that from the engine side. Just push back on the lever until it won't go any more (because it hits stop on transmission) Have fun!

Those linkage bushings, although not related to shift points, can get incredibly sloppy when they go bad. They are nasty to replace without the proper tool. After doing it twice with pliers, a lot of swearing, and hot water and a microwave oven, I bought the right tool for it. You don't know how bad they are until you operate a shifter with new bushings.

Rowdie, thanks for the correct name. Strife, do you have a picture of the bushing tool; where to get one? I need to install a bushing on the control pressure lever which is on the passenger side of the transmission. I bought bushings for the shifter too but for the time being, my shifter bushings are still good.

A link to wht you are looking for, with video explaining how to do the job, and they even offer the tool and bushings kit. You will have to remove spaces from the url, as the forum doesn't loke website addresses from other vendors, or something. mercedes source.com/ node/ 9405

The censorship of helpful websites on this furum is frustrating to me. Lets see if this forum link works. Much more active than here and you can post links. http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r-c107-sl-slc-class/ |

RadioTek, I have seen that video and bushing rig that he made. Thanks for the link. Graham's tip about removing the control pressure lever from its mounting point makes sense. I think I will detach it from the throttle assembly, detach it from the transmission, drop it out, replace the bushing and then bust knuckles getting it back in. Thanks to all,
