Trunk Seal Glue?
Hey Guys,
I'm getting ready to replace the trunk seal on my 350SL. I have the new seal, just not sure what kind of glue/sealant to use to affix it. Any recommendations?

I've used Goop a lot on camping trips & once to repair a Kevlar canoe 3 days from civilization, but I never thought to use it on the car... I'll keep that one in mind.

I agree with Rowdie. Buy Super Weatherstrip Adhesive, 5 oz. Tube - Black by 3M - part# 08008. Also comes in yellow Super Weatherstrip Adhesive, 5 oz. Tube - Yellow by 3M - part# 08002.
Manufacturer says: "A strong, flexible, rubbery adhesive that can withstand vibration and extreme temperature variations. It can be used to bond automotive weatherstripping and is a great adhesive for holding paper, cork or rubber gaskets in place during installation". |

I used it on my '73. In the corners I used tape to hold the seal upright untill the adhesive set up. It tended to curl inward in the corners.

The 3M stuff has been around for 30 odd years.
For a reason.
