To any or all - Does the dash cluster on a 129 pull out similar to most of the older (ie: 1989 300CE) Mercedes? Any helpful hints would be great. I tried to pull it out last night and there was too much resistance. Thanks, Craig

The dash cluster pulls straight out over the steering column. Use either MBZ tools or you can make your own. Be sure to engage the tools behind the cluster and not just the front lip or you risk breaking the clusters clear panel.

removal of dashboard cluster
Use the mercedes 'hooks' inserted down the sides of the cluster between the cluster and the padded trim surround. Postion them about half way up each side and angle them slightly to contact the cluster body rather than the very outside lip. It is very tight but a steady even pull should ease the cluster out. I found it was a matter of confidence to keep pulling !
