K40 relay module design problem and fix

K40 relay module is located inside the same box which contains ECU, trans control module etc. On 97 E420, it is located near passenger side firewall.

The K40 controls a lot of the important power distribution to many modules and the design has some flaw, namely, when you push in the 15 amp fuses, the bus bar bends out so the fuse is not fully seated. The connectors joint the bus bar by peening which I think is just too cheap.

It is very easy to take out the K40 relay box and open it up to fix it.

I fixed mine by pushing fuses all the way in from two sides. There is no apparent cold solder joint, but I re-soldered the PCB just to make sure. This is for a 1997 E420. The problem I had is ASR, flashing reserve light, trans code P1745.
