1982 380 sl Condensor replacement
I am looking to replace the AC Condenser in my 1982 380 sl. Replacing most of the Ac components in the system Hoses Compressor and Drier.
Does anybody know who makes the Condenser that Mercedes uses. I don't want to use an after market one. These are not cheap from Mercedes Any suggestion are well come thanks Pete newmanpc2@verizon.net |

If you think the condenser is expensive, just wait until you see the labor required to replace it. Seriously, there is some major pain involved in that job. There are rumors that the heater core/condenser were suspended from the cieling at the factory, and the car was built around it.
To get to those pieces, the dash has to be removed, which requires that the seats and console be removed. then you have to remove the heater / AC box. There are a myriad of things that can be damaged in the process, many of which are difficult to obtain, at best. Are you REALLY sure you want to do this??

I was going to say the same until I re-read the post and noticed it was "condenser" rather than "evaporator".

Oooops. Sorry about that. That's what I get for posting later in the week. Long hours starting to get to me???? Sooner or later it has to end. Hopefully not fatally. Scott
