82 380sl transmission slip

Hi
Just need some help. THe transmission seems to lag/ slip a little when starting . After running it seems okay. Just the initial cold start. When I put in reverse nothing happens unless I shift through the other positions. I checked the fluid levels and fluid and it looks fine and is filled to the proper level. Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks

This is usually the way that they fail. The reverse uses clutches only, not clutches and bands. I actually rebuilt an 82 380SL transmission and the clutchesand bands were all amazingly good EXCEPT reverse, which were 99% shot (and the thing still actually worked fine!).
