AC Questions

I have an 85 500sl. The AC system has two thumb wheels to vary the temperature, a fan speed rotary knob, a compressor switch, and one other switch. If the temp dials are set to max cold, the AC blows nice and cold. If the knobs are set to any other temp setting the AC blows very hot. Given that I don't know the different coo ends for this type of system I am not too sure what would cause this problem. Where do I start?

Mike

Mike,

While I don't profess to be an expert by any definition, I did have similar issue with my 82 107. I might suggest you contact a company called Programa (not sure of spelling) as they are able to rebuild many of the control units. They may be able to help you determine if it is your control unit that is failing or if it another component. If you don't have a Freon leak it has to be a component.
