1989SL parts becoming unavailable??
Is anyone finding that some parts for the Sl series are becoming impossible to find? I was looking for a fuel sender unit for my 1989 SL only to discover that it is no longer available....from any supplier I contacted! If this trend continues is the SL going the way of the Dinasaur

Look for folks parting out cars.
I could have gotten you a Fuel Sending Sensor from my 1981 parts car but I no longer have it. There is a member named Fonzi who has several parts cars that he is actively selling parts from. |

If things get really dire, pulling a sender from a different model and reworking the parts is a possibility since the major parts are usually common. ( RE when VDO / Hella / others make a sender, they use common parts across many lines. )
What specifically is wrong with the sender? |

No available part
Thank you guys for your responses. I suppose looking for parts from parting outs is one avenue but how reliable could they be?. Again redesigning a sender is not an easy task either, hopefully someone will do it and show how it's done. My sender is working to a point.....it sometimes sticks on empty but after a few miles jumps into action. Maybe i will have to live with it until a suitable alternative is found. Again thank you for suggestions.

Used parts are generally reliable. The sender can be repaired. Do a search here and on R/C107 SL/SLC Class - Mercedes-Benz Forum
