I bought a non running 450SL, the guy who had it threw a bunch of parts at it and gave up. Fuel pump, injectors, warm up compositor, new wires.
The center plunger in the fuel distributor is stuck, I bought a repair kit and took most of it a part. When I separated the two halves there are only 7 of those aluminum collars in the top half of the FD, one is missing.
The car has been sitting for 15 years and supposedly it ran fine before it was parked. What is confusing me is that the washer that locks the 30mm nut on the plunger didn't look like it was disturbed ever but the 3 hold down screws that fasten the FD in place were. So it's been off, replaced who knows. Would it be possible to run correctly missing one of those?
Is it possible that someone rebuilt it years ago and reassembled it missing that part and it still ran fine?
I was wondering if anyone might have that part or a junk FD they want to part with? Aluminum FD # 0438100068.
Thank you!
