seats

Check down about 10 threads to '560sl seats'. These seats are very easy to remove. Inside the black U shaped tracks that the seats slides in are some Philips head screws and some bolts-2 in each track on the pass. side and 3 on the driver's side I believe. Unscrew them and pull the seat out. Read my reply on the other thread about using moly grease and the nylon slides.

I'd expect it's part of the sensor for the "put-your-seat-belt-on-dummy" alarm, which I assume is normal equipment. My 560SL doesn't sound off when I start it before fastening my belt, but I expect that a PO disabled the alarm for the same reasons I'm always tempted to (although the theft alarm is functional). Come to think of it, even my old '73 Mustang had a "fasten seat belt" light which didn't operate, and I'd assumed that meant an audible alarm also which was silenced; are collector/enthusiast owners more likely to keep their vehicles from nagging them?

450SL seat

Egg on face -- my so-called switch is the seat belt release.
Thanks for the reply Jim
