Talking I'm Baaacckkk !!

OK I just picked up a 91 500SL tonight, I take delivery of it next week. It''s just a "fun" car, I already have my truck and my daily driver. Im very psyched for it and cant wait.

Ive been waiting for a long time to get back in the MBz fold... I will post pics up next week when it is all set up with insurance, etc.

This auto has 120000 miles on it, it drives and shifts beautifully with no leaks under the hood or under the car. I am bringing it to the dealership next week to get a good run over.

At this mileage, and this year what things should I be worried about. Like I said, this is not my daily commuter, so it shouldnt get too many miles. I will, however, take it for a lot of long trips (with the top down). I just wanted to see what major things I should worry about.

PS the roof mechanism works great, I know that usually develops problems. One thing that is a minor annoyance is that it has 18 inch rims and when I turn the wheels all they way the do rub the fenders just a bit, Im sure it wont be an issue unless I am making a u turn.

Make sure you post pics of course!

I'm not even close to that mileage, but other than the normal wear items (brakes, tires, etc.) I haven't read anything averse about these cars short of some isolated top problems...most commmonly, the front latches may eventually not "catch" and require replacement. This is a DIY.

I've only dealt with a leaky fuel hose since ownership , and a new clamp solved that. Other than that, replaced some burnt-out dash bulbs.

Enjoy your "new" purchase!

You have to have some server space allocated on the web somewhere to post pictures. Then you select the "IMG" button to paste the URL of the picture.

Then PRESTO!

Your picture appears!

So the pictures you see posted here are actually linked, not downloaded. So if you delete the pic or unsubscribe from your service provider, the pic will vaporize as well.

Very beautiful car. Love the color.

Are those aftermarket wheels? What brand are they?

By the way, did you do the 120,000 mile service that you asked about in an earlier post, and how much did it cost? Did you do it at the dealer or an independent?

The wheels are "Neeper Neptune". I have no clue about wheels in general so dont know if they are good or not, but they look good so Im happy.

I havent had the chance to do the 120k service. The dealer who sold me the auto had the car fully tuned up, so I dont think I need the full service. I will just bring it in and show them the receipt for the tune up and just have them do whatever is left over.

There arent really any decent independent shops around here so it all goes to the dealer.

Thanx much.

Personally I dont see anything in the background that even comes close to my 12+ year old machine.

Spinedoc, I greatly admired the car in your pix--but they weren't there the next time I logged in! I'm guessing that when you edited your post, the link was lost.

It's the stupid picture hosting site I use, they were down yesterday, then they locked my account for a day because I went over the upload limit. I'm still working on my personal web page, sigh.
