paint codes!

allright... I finally found the official name for my paint. I wrote to mercedes via e-mail, and they wrote me back, decoding my vin number. I then looked on a website (http://www.landiss.com/paintcodes.htm) and they have the paint codes for mercedes!
Mine is officialy "516 medium red (mittelrot)"
check it out!

Check out this site (sometimes it is down, but not very often). It has codes for everything Mercedes! 516 is indeed Mittelrot.

mine wasn't in my vin code, I e-mailed my vin into mercedes, and they mailed me back a sheet with my paint codes, special codes, interior codes, OEM headlight Company, OEM tire Company, etc.

Trim paint color?

I know my '93 600SL car body color is Arctic White but I'm not sure about the color of the painted trim on the softtop boot, which unfortunately got a little scratched up when I took off the hardtop. It looks like black pearl and I think it may be #199 Blauschwartz (Blue Black). Where can I find the color code to make sure I'm right before I order the spray paint? Incidentally, if anyone is looking for a source for touchup spray paint, I bought a can from the following source to refinish the bumper of my wife's MDX and was pleased with the color match: http://www.levineautoparts.com/spraycanofto.html

I don't think this trim is painted; rather it is fashioned of anodised aluminium, the same material used by MB for window surrounds and such like. These parts are incredibly expensive to replace!

JJ,
Thanks, but I really didn't want to hear that! I hoped it was painted. I guess I'll just live with the scratch - it's visible only when the top is down.
Stuart
