'73 450sl points to elec. ignition upgrade!
I upgraded from points to Crane Cams electronic ignition XR3000 and High output coil it only took a half hour and started first time and I'm a newby. If you are having ignition problems or don't want to worry about points any more, if your original electronic ignition has gone out this is a much cheaper alternative you may want to look into this, the performance is immediately noticable and cost is around $200.

Re: '73 450sl points to elec. ignition upgrade!
Please, can you send me the exact brand and type of the used pieces for your 'electronic ignition XR3000' upgrade. I would like to do the same, but nobody is able to help me.
Thank you gregorylacombe@hotmail.com |

Crane Cams Ignition
Gregy:
Go to Crane Cams web site and click on Points Conversion. That should take you to the XR3000 and XR700 (and other) systems. They also show a list of sources, some of which are in the Netherlands and Germany (but not Belgium). I have installed the XR700 system and one of their hot coils on my '70 280SL. Great system and you never need to set the timing again. Wes |
