Xenon And Headlamp Wipers?

Hi,
Just wondering why can't I find any W129 with both Xenon and headlamp wipers optioned together?

From at least 1998 on, xenon always has wipers on UK R129s, whether on SL500s, where xenon with wipers are standard fit from the factory, or on SL280s and SL320s where the xenon light option comes with wipers anyway. See the pic of my SL500 attached below:

I read somewhere - years ago - that the wipers are not present because of the additional heat put off by the type of xenon lights used in the US spec cars. Has anyone else heard this?

For the longest time I thought the ballast might be on the way of the wiper motor, but now seeing the British model having both, there might be other reasons why US and Canadian cars don't have both these options.

I seem to remember reading in the "Star" that the US cars came with plastic lenses and that they will indeed melt from the heat of the high power lamps. So, you have to change the entire housing over to high temp glass to upgrade the bulbs on older vehicles. Tod
