Question 1990 300 SL - ADS to Standard Suspension Conversion

the 300sl I have has the Adaptive Dampening System (ADS) installed on it, at present, all the suspension is fixed / stuck to "very hard" thus creating an interesting bumpy ride.

Just the term ADS sounds very expensive to fix, I have it booked into local mercedes garage for diagnostic and am expecting mega £££'sss ($$$$$'sssss) for repair.

I have researched some of the components alone and they are very expensive

My question is has anybody ever converted from ADS to standard shocks and disabled the ADS completely ?

I have been told also that the power steering pump is included in the same system and this would have to be replaced

what parts am I looking at to complete the transformation ?

does anybody know if the fix to the existing ADS could be a simple inexpensive one ?

simon (UK)
