slc rear window
FEI (for everyone's information). I just had the rear window removed and one with less fog along the bottom installed. Because of my schedule, holidays, shift work, etc. this happened over about a 2 month period. The first guy to reinastall the window said that for sure he knew how to do it and , 'Yes, thank you very much", he knew how to install the defroster wire into the trunk. To make a long story short, he didn't on both counts. Plus he couldn't get the aluminum trim to stay in place once the window was in the car. Blamed me for bending the trim when I removed it.
I finally got the work done by the man to whom the local MB dealer subs all their work. He installed the trim BEFORE the window was put into the car. The window went into the car the first time perfectly. He used the rope technique as talked about on this site but he used a thin, about 1/8 in. nylon, cord. Once the window was placed in the car he got two of us to push down on the bottom side as he pulled the cord out. A little more pushing and prodding and Bob's your uncle.
I went back to the original installer, talked to the owner, had the installer look at me like I had called his mother a whore, and finally got the owner to admit that she owed me a refund. Persistance does pay off.
