"92 SL300 Shift Knob preplacement

Can anyone give advice on the procedures to replace a shift knob on my 92 SL300. I have a new wood knob I would to install. I understand that it's a little more involved on the 92's than on later sl's. Thanks

The shifter screws-in and is secured by a nut. To access this nut you must remove the cover to the shift housing. Further, to remove the cover you may have to remove the wood cover for the center console. It's more difficult to write an explanantion than actually do the task, so if you want help, email me...
