Just changed the vacuum modulator..........

I have a '79 450SL that had a bad modulator on the trans (bad seal; i.e vacuum leak). When I removed the modulator, there was a metal rod and spring attatched to it. Is there anything else that is supposed to come out with the modulator? I really feel that I missed something here when reassembling. I have yet to drive the car as it is on jack stands getting new subframe mounts, tie rods, steering gear box and coupler. I dont want to drive it until I have verification that my work is correct.

Has anyone else changed these, or have any experience on these trannys?????
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Just wanted to say that my trans problems are now history. I made a few adjustments on the modulator, and presto. It feels like a whole new trans.

Thanks for the reply!!!!
