1990 500SL fast idle after warmed up

My SL is idling quite high - sometimes over 2000rpm - after it gets warmed up, but if I stomp on the accelerator it usually settles down.

TIA for any suggestions to slow things down...

Could be something as simple as the throttle linkage getting stuck. Or even carpet pushing against the pedal. I'd start with cleaning and lubricating the throttle linkage, and cleaning the throttle actuator. Have you checked the fault codes?

Right you are - stuck throttle linkage. A little cleaning a good to go. Thanks.
