engine vac lines on 560SL

Does anyone know what the three vac lines that are on the passanger side of the engine are for. They come over the valve cover and they each have a different stripe on them. Mine have a black connector on them -- I do not know if this is original or if they were cut at one time when the valve cover came off.

The reason I ask is that they were not connected years ago when I purchased the car -- I can tell no difference if they are conected or not
