WTB- w126 Shifter Boot? and a w126 Dead Pedal in Palomino (Pictures included)
I am looking for what I think is called the gear selector. It is the black plastic casing that has the shifter boot built in. I would like it to be in very good to excellent condition. This means no cracks in the clear plastic that goes over the Drive letters/numbers, and also no cracks in the actual rubber of the boot itself. I can get part numbers on request.
I am also looking for a dead pedal out of a w126 in palomino that is not cracked. The carpet (which is attached to the dead pedal) does not have to be in the finest condition, I can clean it up and put SEM color-coat on it. I would like for the plastic to be in very good condition without cracks. ( would take pictures, but my dead pedal was demolished) If you dont know what I mean by dead pedal, it is the plastic piece that is under the parking brake pedal. The carpet to the left of this (which is attached to the dead pedal) goes under the hood release latch mechanism. Both of these are (of course) for my 1985 300sd. Please reply to this thread or PM/email me with a price (and a picture would be valueable) if you can help me out. The pictures are all of the first piece which I did my best in describing. Thanks! That's a common color here, when I get back I'll try to nab ya a dead pedal.
How do you replace that shifter boot?

Make sure that you have the parking brake engadged, or the wheels chocked. Remove the ashtray (two screws under the insert) Remove the coin tray thing beneath the ash tray. Slide the Console wood forward (trim around the shifter which holds the window switches etc.) Lift up the trim and disconnect the switches. Unscrew 4 bolts around the perimeter of gear selector. (Picture above) I think they are 13mm. Then the whole unit should slide up on the shifter itself. There is a nut on the bottom of the shifter that needs loosened before unscrewing the shifter itself. Disconnect the linkage to the transmission. Pull out gear selector I would really be interested in one without cracks anywhere... with rubber completely entact and in good condition as stated above. |
