livery dash
These are very common in the middle east. You could likely get one new from Mercedes.
There are also at least two versions of this that I have seen. The one pictured here is the best for what you are talking about as the other just has a 'scoop' in the center of the dash that looks like it might hold a tissue dispensier. Twenty-five years ago it was common for a person from the middle east to go to a Mercedes plant and get a job assembling cars. They were able to save their money for the car and they also did not have to wait years for delivery. As an employee they moved to the top of the delivery list. When they had saved enough to pay for the car they ordered it. When it was built they drove it home and went into the livery business. These cars are made to go one million miles, so it would be hard to find a dash that was not all cracked up from the sun. A new one from Mercedes might cost less than you think as if there are any new ones left there is likely a very low demand for them. Please keep us posted on how this project progresses. I think a lot of people would love to update their cars with a GPS and this looks like it would work great. Pooka |
