84 300D at San Jose PnP 153K miles

There's a silver-blue blue plate 84 300D at the PnP on Commercial St. in San Jose. Hard impact to right rear but otherwise a clean looking car. Odo reads 153K miles. Nice dark blue tex other than a chunk missing from the passenger seat left shoulder (WTH?). If the odo is accurate, there's probably a good engine and tranny to be had.

charmalu is going to thank you for announcing this sixto! He told me he was going to pull the drivetrain from this car when he gets back from his Holiday trip and hopes it will still be intact!

If anyone is going back . . . can you check and see if there is a manual pass side mirror?

I need one with all the parts, as I want to put one on mine. (They never put one on mine from the factory!)

Let me know, and I'll send $

Mission complete

The engine and transmission has been removed .

Yesterday morning "Nate Stanley" picked me up at my house. Loaded up all the necessary tools, and my PNP Buggy, and off we went ot the S.J. PNP.

We pulled the Engine and Transmission, along with a few other items. I first checked with my electric drill on the spedo cable that the spedo was working, all looked well there.

This car was a driver at the time of the accident. has a good interior, steering wheel has almost no wear to it. still has all the grain in the rubber.

Has good front end sheet metal, I was thinking of going back for the fenders later. Hood looks good, but left hinge is bent, maybe a PNP add on.

Did get a hit in the right rear corner, but the L/R hub is bent in some. the Differential should be a good one with 153,000, and probably a 3:07 if anyone is interested.

There is also a good steering box.

I first saw the car on 12-19, must have been set the day before. I replaced the oil cap on the VC and replaced the oil filter lid, shut the hood. since Christmas was in a few days, I was hoping the car wouldn`t have gotten too vandilized before we could get back to it. I left for Carson City, Nv the next day. contacted Nate and we phoned and e-mailed a few times to get things worked out. Plus we had some rain, and I was hoping none would get into the engine. seem like people always want to remove the oil cap and leave the hoods up. .

Well all worked out for the good. we left carson Wed, got home about Mid-night, got up at 5:30am, left here about 7:45, got back around 2:15P.

What was amazing, the car was not hardly touched in that week.

The Passenger door mirror is an electric mirror. I removed it the first day I saw it. someone removed the screws from the inside, and let it hang by the wires on the out side of the door. guess the got what they wanted from the inside part.
Iam not sure when MB went from manual to electric.

So Nate got a great Christmas Present.

Charlie
