Conversion from 3spd Auto to 5spd Manual
Hello,
I am looking for the parts to convert my 500 SEC to a manual transmission and need the pedal assembly, gearbox, shifter and potentially the correct drive shaft. Would anyone have a lead on where I might find these within the US. I'm guessing the east and west coasts are my best bet where the non-automatic models seemed to land most often. Any help or advice is appreciated!! Thank you, -Peter |

I have done several convertions from auto to 5 speed manual. But I don't think Mercedes made a 5 speed for 500 SEC I could be wrong

Correct; the M117 engines (450, 500, 560) were supplied only with autoboxes. Cars with the M116 engines (350, 380, 420) for delivery outside the US, however, could be had equipped with manual trans.

500SEC (C126) came with 4-speed automatic transmissions. There was never a factory 5-speed manual nor any manual transmission for this model.
Aftermarket tuners did convert to manual transmissions using a Getrag transmission, but it requires some custom modifications. I am not aware of a straightforward factory bolt-on option. |
