1998 Mercedes C230 (W202) coilovers

Hello all.. I'm looking for a good set of coilovers for a Mercedes W202 C230.. Anybody know where I can find either a used set in good condition or a new set for a decent price.. I'm trying to get at least a 1.5"-2" drop in back and a 2.5"-3" drop in front.. Do you think I can accomplish that with just a set of lowering springs??.. I mean, coilovers would be my ultimate goal, but I'm strapped on cash until next tax season.. Had to pay bills and only have $600 leftover, so if I could close my wheel gaps (especially the front) with just a set of springs, that would be optimal for me at this time.. Thoughts??

This picture doesn't do the front wheel gap justice since its parked in my slanted driveway, pushing weight to the front of the car, closing the gap by about 1".

The other pic is a photoshopped to what I'd like my stance to be on this car... Well, maybe not quite that low, but definitely no gaps

To be honest man, you need to join MBworld or Stanceworks, no-one on this site will know about that.

There are some coil-over options on eBay in your price range but I couldn't speak to their quality.

A few things.

You really don't want "coil overs" since that requires reinforcement / modification of the shock mounts and aftermarket shocks.

Off the shelf springs made for the car would be the most direct route if they exist.

You could use standard racing springs and install adjusters, this makes life much easier as all you do is turn a screw. You can get 2 1/2" , 5" and 5 1/2" ID springs from road racing or oval track vendors.

Have a look at my posts in this thread, pretty much ignore the original poster.

However, you have greater issues to attend to if all that separates you from bankruptcy is $ 600. And, a tax refund isn't free money, it is an amount that you overpaid in estimated taxes through the year.

Have a look on the net for a guy called Dave Ramsey for some financial basics. You can chose to struggle for the rest of your life or make a change now and live easy in the future.
